Atomium are a five piece band from Wicklow in Ireland, the band formed in 2001 originally under the name Stagefright began working on original material as well as playing covers from many artists who influence the members of the band. The band consists of the following members, Mairead Seery on vocals, Paul Ryan on guitar, Colin Mckenna on Bass, Shane O’Reily on drums and Donal Martin on guitar. Strangely enough the then named Stagefright recorded a four track demo before playing any live gigs. The four track demo contained the original tracks, Stagefright, Days Before, Heat and Song X.
After the recording the band focused of performing around Dublin and in local venues in Wicklow. Playing sets with a mixture of cover material and original songs stagefright performed on a regular basis. In mid 2003 stagefright once again recorded a new demo with three original songs, Whats Inside, Janet’s Eyes and The Piano Song.
Four members of the band traveled to Belgium and on return the band was renamed to Atomium. Atomium continued to play live performances around the Dublin and the Wicklow area. In mid 2006 Atomium split and only played a small amount of performances between 2006 and 2008.
In early 2009 Atomium rejoined to begin practicing on new material and have spent the past year in the studio getting new material together.
Atomium will return in early 2010.
